It is recognized by University Grants Commission under Section 2(f) with the right to confer degrees as per Section 22(1) of the UGC Act, 1956. It was established in Act No.3 of 2016 in Government of Andhra Pradesh Gazette.

The Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) is a three-year undergraduate degree program available in various fields for students who have completed their 12th standard or equivalent. Introduced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2013, the B.Voc. program is designed with multiple entry and exit points, enabling students to earn a diploma after one year, an advanced diploma after two years, or a full-fledged B.Voc. degree upon completion of three years. This structure aligns with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) and now integrates with the National Credit Framework (NCRF) 2023, allowing students to accumulate and transfer credits seamlessly across academic and vocational streams.
The UGC's scheme for skills development through higher education aims to provide students with a combination of specific job roles, their National Occupational Standards (NOSs), and a broad-based general education. The NCRF 2023 ensures that credits earned in B.Voc. programs are recognized nationally, facilitating academic progression, employment opportunities, or entrepreneurial ventures.
B.Voc. programs emphasize practical training, industry practices, and job readiness. Carefully designed in consultation with industries and employers, the curriculum equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to handle real-world complexities effectively. Graduates are empowered to participate meaningfully in India's economic growth by securing appropriate employment, becoming entrepreneurs, or contributing to knowledge creation and innovation. This integration with NCRF further enhances the program's accessibility, flexibility, and relevance in today’s dynamic job market.
